Fish

As you can see, I didn't make much progress this week..starting a new piece is always very frustrating!
I decided to make my paint strokes more loose in this one, to try to create the watery texture...obviously I still have a lot to do, but I think I did a lot this week, considering I had nothing for my last post :P
Almost done!!!!

Quixotic Piece!

For National Art Honor Society, we are required to create a piece which pertains to a word. This year, the word is Quixotic, which means impulsive and unpredictable. I decided to draw a penguin with oil pastels, and give him a mohawk! Either that, or his head is on fire.....whatever you see, it's still crazy like Don Quixote was!

The Start of a Potential Concentration Piece!

This is the start of a butterfly, done in ink and watercolor with flowers and another butterfly done in oil pastel in the background. The main butterfly is going to have something in its eyes, possibly me. Hopefully it will come out cool.

Sorry about the poor lighting of this picture....
Piece in Progress!! :)

Four Summer Homeworks!

Over the summer, as the title explains, we were required to create four unique portfolio-quality pieces.

The drawing below is done in oil pastels. The reference photo was taken in Key West on a family vacation. The roosters walked around there just like pidgeons do in New York. I found it strange yet compelling, and decided that I should draw them over the summer.

The painting below is done in water color and ink. The reference photo was taken at my uncle's lake house on Lake Gaston, Virginia.

At first, when I was brainstorming for a concentration idea, I was thinking of doing butterflies. Hence the many pictures of butterflies in this collage. Now, I'm not so sure I want to concentrate on butterflies, so I decided to take the pictures I had and collage them into this piece.

The collage below started out just as a collage of clothes. Then, I decided to make it about how beauty is the "art of disguise" and I added eyes, noses, and mouths. After that, I did some figure drawing on top one day in class because I felt it needed more. I still think this is an unfinished piece, but for now I'm not sure where I'm going to go with it.
